Nick Michael Taylor

While I've been keeping a relatively low public profile lately, there's been a lot going on behind the scenes.

I've been working on getting my new CD finished since last autumn. I went into the studio last September and started recording tracks but due to unforeseen circumstances ran out of money to complete the project.

In addition to playing shows such as the Pearland Crawfish Festival, 24th Annual Bikers for Bikers Charity Rally, Birraporetti's monthly "Night of the Living Guitars" and hosting the Houston Blues Society monthly jam at the Big Easy, I've been busy writing new material.

I've also gone back through my repertoire of songs. Among these I've rediscovered a number of gems, which I've refined and rearranged for a more contemporary yet classic sound.

One of these - "Learn to Love" - has taken on new life with a more modern drum arrangement and guitar work reminiscent of the interplay between Eric Clapton and Duane Allman on the "Layla" album.

Another song, "Remember I Love You," has been transformed from a powerful rock ballad to a beautiful acoustic love song.

As these songs began to take shape, echoes of some of the great rock music of the late 60's and early 70's - Derek & the Dominos, Blind Faith, Cream and George Harrison - could be heard resonating throughout.

Along with the blues, this was the music that so powerfully moved me as a young pre-teen. And now - years later - I am even more passionate about carrying on in the footsteps of these artists than I was then!

At the same time, I've been exploring various funding possibilities.

One is Kickstarter, a crowd-funding platform which is a great way for music fans like you to become active participants in projects such as this.

So ... I've decided to launch a Kickstarter project to raise the funds for my new CD. Planned launch date is this Friday, May 2, 2014.

I'm REALLY excited about this CD!

While I easily have enough material to do both a straight blues and a rock n roll CD, for this project I've elected to go with more of a rock format together with straight ahead blues a la "Layla & Other Assorted Love Songs" by Derek & the Dominos.

Please also feel free to share this with anyone who may be interested.

I'll let you know as soon as we go live with this project. In addition to keeping you updated on our progress, I'll also be posting a few demo videos of some of these new songs.

I'd like to invite you to join my mailing list to receive project updates and other news. Together we can make this happen!

Thank you and rock on!
