Nick Michael Taylor

Introducing Nick Michael Taylor & the Blues Cutters!

Since the IBC finals last October, many people have been asking when and where I'll be playing again. Other than sitting in with Tommie Lee Bradley & the Shuffle Brothers, a few gigs with Guy Schwartz & the New Jack Hippies and hitting a few blues jams, I've been quietly getting things ready to hit the Houston music scene and beyond.

My old friend Patrick Forster from the Blues Union was very gracious to help out on rhythm guitar/vocals for the IBC. After the IBC, my plan was to replace the rhythm guitar with keys and augment the lineup with a 2-piece horn section. Unforeseen scheduling conflicts precluded adding the horn section, so I am moving forward with the following lineup:

Michael Stone (Hammond B3/piano/vocals), Roger Tausz (bass) and John Chupin (drums/percussion), while I will be handling electric/slide/acoustic guitar and vocals.

Michael is a superb keyboardist, and brings great depth and soul to his playing from years of working with blues greats such as Milton Hopkins, IJ Gosey and Leonard "Low Down" Brown. Roger and John are themselves highly accomplished and experienced musicians; together they are a world-class rhythm section.

I have also decided to re-adopt the stage name I used some years ago in Europe - Nick Michael Taylor.

That period was by far my richest and most prolific time as a writer, recording and performing artist, and this represents a return on my part to an absolute and unswerving dedication - come what may - to writing, recording and performing music. I am therefore pleased to introduce:

In addition to a growing body of original material, our repertoire includes songs by blues artists such as Memphis Slim, Freddie King, B.B. King, Albert King, Little Walter, Slim Harpo, Otis Rush, T-Bone Walker and Bobby Bland. We will also be doing covers from artists such as Derek & the Dominos, George Harrison, Jimi Hendrix and Blind Faith. Some acoustic material is also in the works.

Our next show will be Monday, December 23, 2013 at Birraporetti's downtown from 7:00-10:00 p.m. No cover and you're invited!
